La Zona

August 2025 Update

Dear family in Christ,

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. Galatians 1:3-4

It is about time we share with what the Lord has been doing in Mexico City through La Zona ministry since we last time communicated with you (February 2025).

Volunteers from La Zona Church, some unchurched (yet) community members and volunteers from Antioch Christian Church (East Iowa) worked hard to prepare everything needed for Summer Kids’ Clubs. This took place in Fuego Nuevo (getting materials ready) and in Los Pepes (preparing the area where the Club was to be carried out).

Thanks to Broadway Christian Church and Antioch Christian Church for coming alongside us in different ways to carrying out the Summer Kids’ Clubs in Fuego Nuevo, Los Pepes and Xalatlaco from July 21 to August 1. It has been an amazing work that allowed community kids and their parents to see the Kingdom of God has come near.
With the help of some US churches, our Summer Kids' Clubs were a great success!

At least 4 homes have opened their doors to carry out Discovery Bible Studies around the Fuego Nuevo area. And some of the participants have started to attend Sunday worship in La Zona Fuego Nuevo.
We had 24 baptisms on Resurrection Sunday!
 

Please pray:

  • That a Sports (soccer) Community Discipleship program sprouts in Los Pepes. This requires continued mending of the community soccer court (fence and turf). Pray that the necessary funds can be put together. This should lead us and the community to develop community improvement projects and discipleship contact with community members.
  • For a Farming God’s Way training on September 8-10, in a rural community 10 hours away from Mexico City, in the Oaxaca Mountain range.
  • For the new La Zona Community Development Center service period: may many outsiders come and be blessed by our service. For a dentist and a doctor that can serve at the La Zona dentist’s and doctor’s offices.
  • For “2025 and beyond.” The goal is to pave the road to extended Discovery Bible Study development, disciple making and church numerical growth.
  • For good health, especially for my daughter Esli.
  • For healthy finances in every La Zona family.
  • For the people involved in the expansion of God’s Kingdom in Los Pepes (José Parrilla) and Xalatlaco (David Rivera), and all volunteers that have joined the mission.  
  • For the Fuego Nuevo construction project.
